Building on the first game’s core mechanics of delivery and traversal, Death Stranding 2 introduces an off-road all-terrain vehicle—dubbed the “Odradek Transport Carrier”—to navigate its vast open world more efficiently. The game blends stealth elements, environmental traversal challenges, and tactical combat against both human adversaries and BTs. Players must manage cargo balance, environmental hazards such as tar seas and sandstorms, and evolving delivery routes while engaging with side quests that deepen the world’s lore. Though its deliberately slow pace and focus on repetitive delivery tasks have been polarizing, many critics note that these design choices reinforce the sequel’s meditative exploration of connection and perseverance in a fractured world.
