TrainingPeaks’ Fueling Insights is a new analytical tool that is designed to help endurance athletes and coaches optimize nutrition strategies during cycling training sessions. Developed in partnership with Dr. Iñigo San Millán, a leading sports physiologist and former performance director for Team UAE Emirates, the feature estimates fat and carbohydrate utilization based on power meter data, metabolic profiles, and ride dynamics.

Fueling Insights’ algorithm draws from over 250 lab-calibrated respiratory exchange rate (RER) tests across various athlete abilities. The nutrition strategies-optimizing analytical tool takes factors like gender and metabolic efficiency into consideration to provide highly individualized fueling recommendations.

TrainingPeaks’ innovation aims to bridge the gap between laboratory-grade metabolic analysis and real-world training, allowing cyclists to refine their carbohydrate intake and potentially increase performance while minimizing gastrointestinal distress.
