No BS Career Advice August 3, 2025

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”–Sir Winston Churchill

26 years ago, on August 1, 1999, my wife-to-be walked down the aisle of an Italian restaurant in Glen Cove, NY, and got married. It her second and my third. I learned to “interview better” in my personal life than I had previously, and we have been together as a couple through sickness and health. As has been the case for 25 of them, we have not been in the same country for 25 of them, but I’ll leave that story for another time.

What’s important is that I learned to get better at connecting and was fearless in my behavior, two qualities I see in few job hunters The skills needed to find a job are different than those needed to do a job. You can get better at them.

Practice, advice and the right information will help you get better so you don’t act as an amateur on interviews as I did when I was dating.

People hire me for No BS job search coaching because I make finding work much easier. I don’t write resumes, although I do critique resumes. I leave it to people who are experts at that. I am someone who has helped tens of thousands of people find work. I have free information available at JobSearch.Community. Also, scroll down to receive my Wednesday email with job search advice. Becoming an Insider at any level gives you access to all my video courses, books and guides to job search, the abililty to ask me questions and, if you choose an option above the lowest tier, you can receive job search coaching from me, too.

If you’re using ChatGPT to help with your job search, you’re probably asking it the same basic questions as everyone else. But what if you could tap into deeper, more strategic prompts—the kind that reveal hidden opportunities, strengthen your positioning, and help you stand out in the hiring process? That’s what this list is all about.

These 15 under-the-radar prompts are designed to help job seekers like you take full advantage of AI without sounding generic, robotic, or off-base. Whether you’re trying to make a career pivot, negotiate a better offer, or just get more callbacks, these prompts will give you a real edge.
