The new Yearn Shoemaker Amalfi loafer is exactly the kind of innovation and style that I love to see. Kudos to Yearn Shoemaker for taking the new trend of soft suede uppers in a ‘casual style’ and adding it to a leather sole. These are easily one of the most elegant ‘dress casual’ loafers I have ever seen. They epitomize what I see as the move to this ‘soft luxury movement.’ The Amalfi loafer is what elegance in casual dress footwear should aspire to be!
The new Yearn Shoemaker Amalfi comes in three colorways and is a part of Yearn’s new ‘seasonal collection’ series. Their idea behind the seasonal collections is to test the waters of new ideas, models, colorways, etc., to see how they perform and determine whether or not a model should become a permanent fixture of the Yearn Shoemaker brand. Last season, we discussed the Autumnal Patina Collection, as well as the Museum Heritage Collection. Both of which are still going strong.
The reason why I like the new Yearn Shoemaker Amalfi loafer so much is the incorporation of the braided vamp. It is done so tastefully and shows a high level of craftsmanship and design ethos by Yearn. I love braided leather and wish that we saw more of it incorporated into shoe collections across more shoemakers. One downside for shoemakers is that it can be expensive, and therefore, they are reluctant to offer something that might not sell so well. When the braiding is not a stamped style leather (done cheap), it is two woven hides together to make one. Therefore, you are using twice the materials but cannot charge the client twice the price. Hence, it’s apparent lacking of offer.
I am excited to see how the new Yearn Shoemaker Amalfi performs. Hopefully, it will do well, and Yearn decides to offer it in black and navy options. Those would be stunners!
