People start to network when they decide to look for jobs and wonder why they don’t get results. After all, networking fills 80% of all positions but it doesn’t work because you don’t do it right.

Networking Your Way Back to Work

Networking is not something that you do only when you’re job hunting. It’s for the times between your job searches where you build the relationships and make the connections and build the relationships that are going to get you results when you need them and when they need you. Understand if you’re just a mooch, if you’re just a selfish individual who’s going give me give me give me, who’s going to want to help you? After all, how many people have you wanted to help who’ve acted that way with you? Put yourself into situations where you’re going to meet new people.

And in doing that, introduce yourself to them, have them introduce themselves to you, start conversations, continue the conversation after you know the event ends. But start making connections with new people. Have fun with it and it will help you a lot for years to come.
