Netflix Makes First Five Minutes Available

Netflix has made the full first five minutes of the highly-anticipated new season of Stranger Things available as the streamer contines to build buzz.

Stranger Things Season 5 Part 1 launches November 26 but fans can now view the first five minutes in its entirety on YouTube.

The episode is titled “The Crawl” and returns to 1983, when the town of Hawkins was first torn apart following the mysterious disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), which was charted in the first season of one of Netflix’s biggest hits of all time.

The episode opens somewhere deep inside the Upside Down’s forest. Will is alone and terrified, huddled inside a makeshift fort when an eerie cracking sound causes him to bolt upright. A menacing Demogorgon is just outside and ready to attack, forcing Will to run through the forest and up a tree. The Demogorgon catches up and drags him into Vecna’s lair before Vecna reveals himself.

Buzz has been building all year for this finale but it is a rare move for Netflix to put out such a lengthy teaser. The streamer, which is also making an animated Stranger Things series and has seen the Duffer Brothers’ creation adapted for the stage, will release the first four eps on Novmber 27, the next three on Boxing Day and the finale on New Year’s Day.

The series begins in the fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and the heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.
