We have bad news to report regarding the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie.

At one point earlier this month, it looked as though investigators were zeroing in on a suspect, thanks to Nest camera footage that showed a masked man at Nancy’s door.

Sadly, police now say that the photos and video taken outside of the home have not generated any leads.

In fact, they’re not even sure if the video was taken on the night of Nancy’s disappearance.

Now, a police source tells TMZ that the Guthrie investigation is on the verge of becoming a “cold case.”

The anonymous insider tells the outlet that they believe the case will be solved eventually.

But they also suspect that the process will take several months, and by then, it might be too late to save Nancy’s life.

According to TMZ, the source “believes someone involved in the kidnapping will brag about it or insinuate his/her involvement 4 or 5 months down the line, or someone who knows the identity of the kidnappers will either talk about it or go to authorities.”

Needless to say, 4 or 5 months is a lifetime in a kidnapping case, especially when the victim is 84 years old.

In her latest social media post on the subject, Nancy’s daughter, Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, offered $1 million to anyone with information about her mother’s whereabouts.

In the same post, Savannah sadly acknowledged that Nancy “may already be gone.”

“We need to know where she is. We need her to come home. For that reason we are offering a family reward of up to $1 million for any information that leads us to her recovery,” she explained.

Savannah also revealed that the Guthrie family will be donating $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

“We also know that we are not alone in our loss. We know there are millions of families that have suffered from this uncertainty,” she said on Tuesday.

“We hope that the attention that has been given to our mom and our family will extend to all the families like ours who are in need.”

Savannah concluded by thanking the public for their prayers and support:

“We know that millions of you have been praying. So many people have been praying of every faith and no faith at all, praying for her return, and we feel those prayers,” she said.

“Please keep praying without ceasing. We still believe. We still believe in a miracle.”

Insiders say the Guthrie family remains devastated by the events of the past few weeks, and Savannah might never return to television as a result of this recent trauma.

We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.
