A mum who kicked another mother in the head has claimed she did it because she was ‘sticking up for her child’.
An altercation erupted outside Munno Para Shopping Centre in Adelaide at about 6pm on January 29 this year.
Police say a woman and two teenage girls allegedly assaulted a 39-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter.
Both alleged victims were treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The injured mother told 7News she suffered a cut on her head which needed six stitches.
The accused, a 41-year-old woman and two 14-year-old girls from Angle Vale, were arrested and charged with assault and assault causing harm.
Footage of the brawl, published by 7News, appeared to show the trio kicking and hitting the 39-year-old mother, who was unable to stand up.
At one point, the 41-year-old can be heard yelling at the other woman to ‘get off my f***ing daughter’.
She then appeared to kick her in the head.

One of the accused, a 41-year-old mother, told reporters she was sticking up for her daughter after ‘bullying’ had allegedly occurred
Outside Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, the 41-year-old woman admitted to reporters that she had kicked the victim, 7News reports.
‘Yes, I did kick her (but) I kicked her underneath, (and) I don’t think I kicked her that hard,’ she said.
‘I’m not embarrassed. I’m supporting and sticking up for my children over this bullying.’
The accused mother said she would not be apologising.
‘It’s really bullying and there’s a lot of bullying going around,’ she said.
‘I’m sorry, but mothers need to pull their kids up, because I’m telling you now, I’m a mother that’s had enough, okay.’
The 41-year-old has requested her case be adjourned while she seeks legal advice.
The teenagers, at least one of whom is understood to be her daughter, also appeared at Elizabeth Youth Court on Friday.
The case is due to return to court in April.
Anyone with information that may assist with the investigation has been asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
