Millie Bobby Brown’s Quotes About Wanting Kids Before Adopting Baby

Millie Bobby Brown long had aspirations of becoming a mother before expanding her own family.

“I do love kids,” Brown said on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in March 2025. “I grew up having a baby in the house [with my younger sister]. For me, I do really connect with kids.”

Five months later, Brown confirmed that she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, were officially parents.

“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” the Stranger Things star wrote via Instagram in August 2025. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter in both peace and privacy. And then there were three!”

The British actress married Bongiovi, one of the sons of rocker Jon Bon Jovi, in 2024 after two years together.

Early Conversations Together

Once Brown and Bongiovi started dating, their future children became a frequent topic of conversation.

“When we started talking about politics and how we want our kids [to be raised], we started talking about really bigger things … that I never spoke about with boys,” she said on her “Call Her Daddy” episode in March 2025. “To be able to even think about those things, I was, like, ’S***, maybe I do want to be with you forever.’”

Brown reiterated their shared mindset in a Vanity Fair profile published that same month.

“We were pretty united going into it,” she explained. “We talked about our political views, what kind of family we want to build, the kind of home we want to live in, the kind of relationship we’re looking for, the kind of careers we want. It’s such an important decision, and we wanted to make sure we were making the right one. I knew I was. It always felt right with him.”

Name Ideas

Elsewhere on her appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Brown revealed a few potential name ideas for her future offspring.

“I have 25 farm animals [and] they’re all named,” she said. “The donkeys are ‘B’ names, cows [are] Barnaby and Bessie. I’ve realized I’ve named them all after names I actually really like for kids’ names. Winnie [is] my dog’s name, and I love that name for a kid. I cannot because Winnie has truly ruined the name. She’s a psycho dog. She’s the best dog ever … [but she’s] emotionally dependent.”

Brown did not immediately reveal the moniker for her baby girl upon her 2025 arrival.

Embracing Young Parenthood

“My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19,” she said on the “Smartless” podcast in March 2025. “And you know, it’s been my thing since before I met Jake. Since I was a baby, I told my mom, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”

She added, “I mean, Jake knows how important it is to me and, of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it’s so important to start a family for me, personally.”

Bongiovi, meanwhile, wanted the pair to get married first before expanding their family.

“My thing was, I really want a family. I really want a big family. I’m one of four,” Brown explained. “He’s one of four. So, it is definitely in our future, but, for me, I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting.”

Practice on Farm Animals

Brown and Bongiovi live on a farm, where they raise a menagerie of animals.

“Jake had to kind of drill the line at some point because we were bringing in these goats that sleep in our bed,” she said on the “Smartless” podcast. “They sleep with me at night because I have to take care of them because they’re babies. They were basically babies. So I would sleep with them and Jake [but they] would be in the middle. Basically, Jake would get up and do a shift and then I would get up and do a shift.”

Brown noted that the baby goats needed to sleep in diapers, leading fans and friends alike to question why the actress would often purchase baby gear.

“In my community, people started thinking I was pregnant because I was buying bottles and nappies and all the things,” she quipped. “Then [the goats would] reach around, like, eight weeks old and then they’re full grown. They want to go outside, so then I had to put them outside.”

A Lot of Inspiration

Brown told Glamour in 2023 that her mother and grandmother inspired her parenthood dreams.

“I wanted to be the woman that my mom is to me and I wanted to be the woman that my grandmother was to me,” she told the outlet. “So that was never my, like, intention, to be a wife. But after meeting Jake and seeing, ‘Oh, I don’t have to be this stereotypical wife for him. He doesn’t want me to be that either. He wants me to go and do my thing and live my life, and he will hold my hand in the process of that.’ I was like, ‘Oh, I do want this.’”
