By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
I was listened to a podcast where people were talking about public policy. The host was in Europe and the guests were from the United States. Pretty early on, one of the guests on the show has to deal with a barking dog. He apologizes and moves the dog to another room. Pretty normal stuff.
What was interesting to me was that they chose not to edit out the barking dog from the episode yet the reference to it appears in the show. That’s the part that was unusual.
It reminds me of how often we seek professional presentation, without failings, mistakes, or foibles.
During these times, I think we will get used to the idea, and show a little mercy for others that there are events outside of our control that are unmanageable.
Choosing not to edit was a good decision.
When the guests asked if this was being done by video, too, and learned there was only going to be an audio recording, he proclaimed that he was going to remove his tie to continue on the show.
What does the tie do for us anyway?
Again, this was not edited out.
Find the mercy for yourself and for others. It will benefit everyone.
After all, we are all figuring this out together.
