Some of the West’s biggest musicians are getting the K-pop treatment with help from Apple TV+, Megan Thee Stallion and Psy.
On Friday, the streaming platform revealed the trailer for KPopped, which debuts all episodes on Aug. 29, an eight-part series that sees music icons collaborating with K-pop artists to reimagine their biggest hits, battling it out in front of a live Seoul-based audience that will decide the best new K-popped song.
Starring K-pop groups BILLIE, Itzy, KEP1ER, JO1, Ateez, STAYC, Kiss of Life and Blackswan, KPopped will also feature Western artists like Stallion, Patti Labelle, the Spice Girls’ Mel B and Emma Bunton, Vanilla Ice, Taylor Dayne, Kesha, Eve, J Balvin, Kylie Minogue, TLC, Boy George, Jess Glynne, Ava Max and Boyz II Men.
Hosted by comedian Soojeong Son (Servant, Search Party), and starring Stallion and Psy, the cross-cultural musical celebration will include fresh spins on tracks like ‘Savage’, ‘Wannabe’, ‘Ice Ice Baby’, ‘Lady Marmalade’, ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’, ‘Motownphilly’, ‘Waterfalls’ and more.
KPopped is executive produced by Moira Ross, Lionel Richie, Miky Lee, Stallion and Greg Foster, alongside Harry H.K. Shin and Jake Hong, with producer Ki-woong Kim for CJ ENM Co., Ltd.
