Most romances can be traced back to a defining moment – for some it’s love at first sight while for others it’s a grand declaration of mutual feelings.
But for daytime television queen Lorraine Kelly, Cupid struck during a drunken night in the Highlands.
The Glasgow-born star has admitted she leapt on now-retired cameraman Steve Smith ‘like a ninja’ while filming in Glencoe.
The 66-year-old, who has been presenting her eponymous ITV morning programme since 2010, said: ‘I had my eye on Steve since we stared working together at TV-am in the 1980s, but was getting nowhere with him.
‘After filming in Glencoe with the mountain rescue team, I got him terribly drunk one night and leapt on him like a ninja. He had no defence, poor soul.
‘It’s our 35th anniversary next year and to celebrate I want to go to Mongolia or spend time in the Falklands – it’s like Scotland, but with penguins. For our silver anniversary we went to Antarctica, which was incredible.’

Lorraine has had a brilliant career – and will celebrate her 35th wedding anniversary next year
The couple, who married in 1992, have 31-year-old daughter Rosie, who recently had a child of her own.
Lorraine added: ‘I can’t wait to take my granddaughter, Billie, to Antarctica to see the penguins.
‘Seeing the world through a child’s eyes is pure magic.’
A series of cost cutting measures saw Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women all relocated to a smaller studio in central London.
Stars such as Cat Deeley, Ben Shephard, and Kaye Adams are all being forced to share dressing rooms and use communal toilets.
But an insider has claimed Ms Kelly is the only star to have her own personal toilet inside her dressing room.
The insider told The Sun: ‘There have been quite a lot of issues since the team’s relocation to the new smaller studios.
As well as the cramped space, presenters have had to give up their personal dressing rooms and loos. Lorraine is the only one who has her own private throne.
‘But even she has to share it, with guests frequently popping in.’
