Liquid Hydrogen Storage Frameworks : Liquid Hydrogen Storage

A research team from Seoul National University of Science and Technology has developed a novel methodological approach for evaluating the safety and durability of liquid hydrogen storage tanks intended for use in unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones.

The research addresses critical challenges associated with storing hydrogen in its liquid state. The process requires extreme cold temperatures, durable mechanical construction, and more. The proposed framework integrates multiple engineering analyses — including thermal performance, structural integrity, fatigue life, and impact resistance — into a unified system specifically designed to simulate the demanding conditions of UAV flight.

By creating a comprehensive set of simulation tools and a supporting database of material properties, the liquid hydrogen storage study aims to establish rigorous safety benchmarks that can guide the future design and certification of these systems.
