Karate Kid: Legends is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on September 27th, 2025. Once it becomes available, the movie will remain on the platform for 18 months before moving to Disney+ and Hulu. Under a 2021 agreement between Sony Pictures and Netflix, most Sony releases, including titles from smaller labels such as Sony Pictures Classics, reach Netflix approximately four months after their theatrical debut. This ensures fans a timely and exciting opportunity to stream the film at home.
The international rollout of Karate Kid: Legends on Netflix will vary by region. While India will receive the film around the same time as the United States in late September 2025, most other countries will experience longer waits, often spanning two to four years after the theatrical release. For example, the United Kingdom holds the second streaming window for Sony Pictures, meaning the movie is expected to arrive there in early 2027. These staggered releases create a global anticipation that keeps fans eagerly awaiting their turn.

Jackie Chan, Ben Wang, and Ralph Macchio headline Karate Kid: Legends, the sixth main installment in the franchise, continuing the stories of Cobra Kai and the 2010 film starring Jaden Smith. Released in theaters on May thirtieth, 2025, the film also stars Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. It follows kung fu prodigy Li Fong, who moves from Beijing to New York and, with guidance from Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso, blends kung fu and karate for an epic showdown. Yet, as stellar as the cast may be, reports suggest Jackie Chan did not undergo special training for the film.
Jackie Chan’s return to the franchise, which he first joined in the 2010 Karate Kid with Jaden Smith, revealed that he skipped training entirely for this latest installment, confident his legendary skills would carry him through.
Why Jackie Chan felt no preparation was needed for the latest installment
In an interview with Variety, Jackie Chan reflected on his decades-long career in martial arts and film, noting, “I’ve been training every day for 64 years. I’ve been fighting, fighting, fighting.” Having acted since the 1960s, Chan has become a legend in fight choreography and is known for performing all of his own stunts, including in Karate Kid: Legends. While age has slowed him compared to his younger years, he remains fully committed to executing his iconic moves.

Jackie Chan, who recently embraced a youthful heart gesture in a playful video, shared his experience with Zhenwei Wang. Chan encouraged Wang to perform his own stunts rather than rely on a double, emphasizing authenticity and audience respect. In contrast, Wang underwent an intense and disciplined training regimen, spending six weeks with the stunt team before filming and continuing rigorous practice on weekends. However, just as fans celebrated the movie on the big screen, they can now eagerly experience it on Netflix.
