On Sunday, fans noticed that Kylie Jenner was not in attendance at the SAG Awards — and folks concluded that this was likely due to the recent and unexpected death of her longtime hairstylist and friend, Jesus Guerrero.
On Feb. 23, Jesus’s death was announced via Instagram by his family members. While the cause of death has not been shared, he reportedly died in Dubai last weekend.
Just last week, Kylie shared images on Instagram with Jesus, and the 34-year-old’s sudden death comes as a shock to his friends and family. On a GoFundMe page posted by his sister, Gris, she said, “Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly.”
Since the weekend, Kim and Khloé Kardashian have both posted statements to Instagram commemorating Jesus. “Our glam fam means the world to us. We work together, vacation, and celebrate our lives together!” Kim wrote.
“Our great respect for the art of hair and make up has led us to meeting some of the kindest souls and made some of our bestest friends,” she continued. “So when one of our glam family members passes away all of our souls are crushed. My heart breaks for Kylie and everyone who loved Jesus the way we all did.”
“I’m praying for his family, his loved ones, and the whole beauty community who feels this deep loss of one of the most talented and kindest to ever do it. Rest in peace @jesushair,” she concluded, posting the statement before a snap of her and Jesus together.
Khloé reposted Kim’s message, and added, “I couldn’t find the words this weekend, but this is exactly how we all feel. We become a family with our glam teams and we share so much of our lives with them. We are also intertwined and in love with one another. This is such an incredible deep loss.”
Kylie, who seems to have had the closest relationship with Jesus, is yet to make a statement. However, a source told People that she was “shocked and very upset” by her friend’s death — and is apparently going above and beyond to support his family.
“Jesus’ death hit her hard,” the source said. “She is shocked and very upset. Still, she’s doing everything she can to be supportive and aid his family, including financially. As upset as she feels, she knows it’s so much worse for his family. She doesn’t want them to stress about money. She’s taking care of expenses, including those associated with his funeral.”
Jesus last posted him and Kylie together during Paris Couture Week in January, snapping a mirror selfie. And on Feb. 12, Kylie shared a pic of the two of them posing playfully together in bed in a recent Instagram dump.
As of Feb. 25, Jesus’s GoFundMe page has raised $96,000.
