Katt Williams Way? Yeah, That’s Real Life Now!
Over the weekend, the city of Cincinnati showed big love to one of its most famous natives by unveiling Katt Williams Way in the Avondale neighborhood. The honorary designation went down at the intersection of Reading Road and Maple Avenue — the very block Katt grew up on. Talk about a full-circle moment!
Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney pulled up to rep the city and help make it official, says WLWT. While Reading Road will keep its original name for navigation, the area will now also be known as Katt Williams Way in his honor.
The ceremony was full of love and appreciation, and of course, Katt had to be there himself to soak it all in. He was the final speaker before the big reveal, and you already know he brought that signature Katt Williams flavor to the mic.
During his acceptance speech, Williams said “Even as a young person growing up here, I understood that names meant something. And so, I understood that Cincinnati must’ve been a great place because..it had such a long name. I thought it was a special place. I thought that great people came from here, I thought the girls were good looking, I thought the guys were smart. I thought this was a place [where] you could really do something and make somebody proud.”

For those who need a quick reminder, Katt’s been in the game for years, blessing us with classics like ‘Friday After Next,’ ‘Scary Movie V,’ ‘Norbit,’ and ‘One of Them Days.’ Plus, his 2024 Netflix special ‘Katt Williams: Woke Foke’ had everybody talking — and streaming — making it one of the platform’s top comedy specials of the year.
Katt Williams, born September 2, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio, came from humble beginnings, but you already know he turned those struggles into pure comedy gold! Growing up in the Avondale neighborhood, Katt soaked up both the challenges and the rich culture around him. And, it’s clear those experiences shaped the unapologetic, real talk we love today. His early years weren’t always easy, but those obstacles? They helped craft the one-of-a-kind perspective that’s made him a household name. Now, Cincinnati isn’t just where he came from, it’s where the streets are honoring his legacy.
It’s clear that Katt’s heart never left Ohio. And now, Cincinnati’s made sure his legacy is cemented — literally — right there on the street he came from. Major congrats to the comedy king himself!
