Bad Bunny’s halftime show at Super Bowl LX was a joyous and colorful celebration of love, music, and unity — and still, certain groups of people have found a way to hate on it.
Whether it’s because they struggle to enjoy Benito’s Spanish lyrics or they simply don’t deem him “American enough” for the NFL stage (despite him literally being from Puerto Rico, which is part of America), MAGA folks have been voicing a lot of complaints about this year’s halftime show.
Leading the charge was, of course, President Donald Trump, who called Bad Bunny’s set “absolutely terrible” and “one of the worst, EVER.” Frank Stallone, the brother of Sylvester Stallone, also said that Benito was “worst than dreadful” (???) and an “insult to American football.”
And another person who took the time to share their negativity with the world was former Real Housewives of New York City castmember, Jill Zarin, who posted a shockingly hateful Instagram video filled with racist commentary about the history-making performance, which she deemed to be “the worst halftime show ever.”
“It’s 250 years that we’re celebrating right now in the United States, and I just don’t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish,” she said, criticizing Benito for apparently “grabbing himself every five seconds.” “I think it’s totally inappropriate. We’ve got all these young kids watching the Super Bowl,” she said.
“I would’ve liked to have known the words he was saying,” Jill continued, before also going on to say that it “looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing.” (Lady Gaga, who is white, had a prominent role in the performance, but Jill said she didn’t recognize her because of her alleged “facelift.”)
In conclusion, Jill declared that she found the whole thing “so hard to watch,” saying, “I think it was an ICE thing. I just think that the NFL sold out, and it’s very sad.”
That video was posted on Sunday and has since been deleted. However, it seems the damage has already been done, as it was just announced that Jill has now been axed from the upcoming E! reality docuseries, The Golden Life, which she was previously set to star in alongside her fellow RHONY OGs: Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, and Sonja Morgan.
“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life,” the production company said in a statement to People and Variety on Feb. 10. “We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”
