Jamie Lee Curtis Reacts to Lindsay Lohan’s ‘Safe’ Comment


Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan have a special friendship.

“Jamie was with me at a time in my life when I was going through a lot publicly […] I have to feel safe around people,” a quote from Lohan, 39, read in an Instagram post shared by Curtis, 66, on Sunday, August 10. “And Jamie is one of those people for me.”

Curtis captioned the post by responding to her Freakier Friday costar’s claim, writing, “And SHE taught me about perseverance, solitude, style, family and Bitmoji!”

Lohan and Curtis starred in the original Freaky Friday movie in 2003 and have remained close since. The pair have also kept one another up-to-date on the newest details in their lives, something Curtis shared while speaking exclusively to Us Weekly in May.

“She met him right at the end of her time [in Dubai] on a blind date,” Curtis said of Lohan’s husband, Bader Shammas. “So, it’s been a real pleasure for me to see her develop as a beautiful woman and [she’s] smart and gorgeous. I mean, it’s cray cray.”

Lohan moved to Dubai in 2014 and went on the date in question with Shammas in 2019. The pair announced their engagement via Instagram in 2021 and married in 2022. Their son, Luai, was born in July 2023.

Curtis also shared that Lohan’s time in Dubai helped her fall in love with acting again. “It’s been glorious to watch her become the mom she is and really loving her work,” she explained. “She took time off because she said it wasn’t fun anymore. She wasn’t enjoying it.”

She added, “[Lindsay] went to Dubai because it was the one place she could go where it didn’t feel — she wasn’t bombarded. Weirdly enough, it was a very friendly country that left her alone. And she spent, if I’m not mistaken, like, five years there, and it was her starting to miss the creative work that brought her back.”

Curtis also told Us that she and Christopher Guest, her husband of over 40 years, also know a thing or two about love. When asked how they have kept things going for so long, she said the answer is simple.

“It’s the oldest story in the book. It’s like a punchline to a joke. I’ve heard it said by many people before me. The secret to a long marriage is don’t leave it,” Curtis explained. “And then, you wake up one day and you’re married a long time. We’re human. Life is hard for everybody, but it’s also gratifying to know that he’s there.”
