Ja Rule Recalls Finessing Restaurant Tabs With His Wife Aisha

Ja Rule is getting candid in a new interview, spilling all about his “broke” days when he was wooing his now-wife, Aisha Atkins. Despite his financial issues at the time, he was still trying to wine and dine his leading lady at spots like Red Lobster, which he did. But, according to Ja, he didn’t have the money to pay, so he’d dine and dash out of the establishment, telling Aisha to head to the cab while he took care of the bill. Come to find out, the bill wasn’t taken care of, and Aisha had no idea this was going on for a while. Here’s how Ja did it…

Here’s How Ja Rule Ate Good & Skated Off

Back when Ja Rule had no cash flow, he was already head over heels for now wife, Aisha Atkins. In a new interview with Us Magazine, released on Saturday, July 12, the ‘Always On Time’ rapper reminisced about those early days, saying:

“It’s interesting because I’ve known my wife since I was broke. Some of our best dates were then. I used to take her to, like, Red Lobster and s***.”

But here’s where it gets interesting, y’all. Ja wasn’t actually paying for those shrimp scampi plates. He was out here pulling the ultimate dine and dash… with his wife in tow! “I actually ran out on the meal and she didn’t know it,” he confessed. But Ja had a whole plan to avoid Aisha from finding out what was going on and how they were able to afford all this food. He recalled telling her, “Hey, let me finish up paying for this, take care of this. The cab’s outside, you go get in the cab.” Once Aisha had left, Ja was plotting his own escape.

The dad of three said the Red Lobster he’d visit with Aisha had a layout that made it relatively easy to exit without getting caught. The New Yorker also admitted that this wasn’t a one-time thing either.

“This was the fault of Red Lobster, because right by the door was the bathroom and pay phone,” he explained. “So people used to go fake like they on a pay phone, slide out, hit the bathroom, slide out.”

And just like that, Ja was out the door, leaving the bill behind like it was nobody’s business while he and his wife left feeling well fed.

Ja Rule Eventually Confessed To Aisha

Ja and Aisha have been married for 24 years. But back then, Ja was keeping his dine-and-dash antics on the low. Eventually, he spilled the beans to his ride-or-die on how they were eating good every other night while he was low on cash.

In the interview, he shared how Aisha reacted when he finally fessed up: “[Aisha] said, ‘You didn’t do that.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I did it a couple of times,’” Ja admitted. But those sneaky Red Lobster escapes became part of their love story, proof that Ja was willing to do whatever it takes to treat his lady right, even if his wallet wasn’t cooperating. But Ja says he now cherishes those dates as precious memories.

“We used to eat good,” he continued. “Those are the good times that you have. And we [are] able to still laugh about and share when we’re eating good and actually paying for the meals.”

Ja Rule Recently Walked His Daughter Down The Aisle

Fast forward to today, Ja Rule isn’t just a former dine-and-dasher; he’s a devoted husband and father who’s living his best life. In recent months, he’s been flexing his proud-dad energy, like when he walked his daughter Brittney down the aisle as she married her boo, Tevin Aitken.

On May 23, the hip-hop legend walked Brittney down the aisle at her lavish ‘Great Gatsby’-themed wedding at Villa Barone Hilltop Manor in Mahopac, New York. Ja showed out in a sleek black tux and was all smiles as he escorted the bride, who looked gorgeous in a sparkly gown and long train. He later took to Instagram, gushing, “Such an amazing moment for any father to walk his daughter down the aisle… love you Babygirl.” The pair also shared a father-daughter dance at the reception, which you can watch HERE!
