Is this Britain’s most soulless bungalow? How lovingly-pruned cottage garden has been ripped out and replaced with concrete ‘monstrosity’… but the neighbours love it!

The garden of the Bradford home had been lovingly-cared for but it has now been ripped out and replaced with grey concrete slabs.

It has since been placed on the market for £400k but social media users have slammed the home saying they would need to be paid to live there.

The property listings describes the home on Undercliffe Road as a ‘stunning detached bungalow’ and says the home has been ‘fully refurbished from top to bottom’.

However, users on X (formerly Twitter) have heavily criticised the home with one saying the home was ‘beautiful in the past’ before declaring the recent renovations as a ‘monstrosity’.

While another added ‘why did they spoil it? Some people are just idiotic.’

A third asked: ‘What is it about these people that have such an aversion to gardening?’

Someone else also posed the question: ‘How did they get permission for that?’.

Others likened the home to a prison with one person writing: ‘Fence several meters too short and no barbed wire on top. Nightmare.’

A second added: ‘While it has the air of a prison block from the outside, it looks like a well-appointed bunker on the inside.’

While someone else said: ‘Just needs some barbed wire, and it could be a proper little fortress.’

One person said that he wouldn’t live in the home ‘even if you offered me a million.’

Another person agreed saying: ‘They’d have to pay me that to live there.’

It was also described as a ‘depressingly boring house’.

‘Who the hell would pay 400,000 for that?!, the person added.

However, nearby residents say it has actually improved the neighbourhood with one believing it is the ‘best house’ on street.

One neighbour said: ‘I think they have done a great job. I used to be in the building trade and I’ve been watching them work.

‘The standard of the work is really high. I was very impressed.

‘They’ve rebuilt the wall with the original stone, taken down the hedge and replaced it with a fence.

‘I’ve seen the photographs of what it looks like inside and it is lovely.’

Another added: ‘I like it. It had been empty for a while so this is a big improvement.

‘The new owners tried for planning to raise the height of the house but that was refused.

‘They have also moved the entrance from the side of the house to the front which is good for us.

‘It been modernised in a way that it is easy to maintain.

‘It won’t be to everyone’s taste because some people prefer more garden space and bushes but others will love it.’

While a third neighbour said: ‘I think they would have spent around a year doing it up.

‘The house was old-looking and was pebble bashed. It needed work doing to it. I think it’s definitely an improvement.’

A woman stood at a bus stop close to the bungalow said: ‘I think it’s the best house on street! If I had the money I would definitely buy it.

‘It would be perfect for me as it is a bungalow and I wouldn’t have to move again when I get older.

‘It would make a great family home.’
