An evening of binge-watching turns into a global
frustration. Across the internet, a familiar question is being asked, as
countless users flood social media to report that Netflix is experiencing
significant issues. This widespread surge of complaints suggests that the
beloved streaming service may be down right now, leaving millions without their
nightly dose of entertainment.

Known for its chokehold in almost everything, the Netflix error has come as a surprise to most, leading to an out cry of who dunnitt and when fixit.

Global service disruptions: Is Netflix down?

Netflix is currently experiencing issues, with users
reporting problems worldwide. According to DownDetector, a website that tracks
service outages, Netflix users started reporting issues around 6:57 PM Eastern
Time on August 26, 2025. The problems include video streaming Issues,
with 66%
of users experiencing video streaming problems
; server connection issues, as
19% of users are having trouble connecting to Netflix servers; and app issues,
with 15% of users experiencing problems with the Netflix app.

The issues seem to be affecting users globally, with reports
coming in from the United States, Canada, and other countries. Despite the widespread panic, Netflix viewers continue to remain seated, perhaps hoping for an update to do away with all the problems. 

After the servers get back online, the frustration of the outage can be set aside, and one will be free to explore a curated list of thrilling new releases and beloved shows returning for a new season.

Netflix’s wave of original titles

Among the new releases is Wednesday Season 2, which
continues the darkly comedic adventures of its titular character. Viewers of
suspense and thrillers can look forward to
Black Rabbit, a new series
starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman as brothers in a crime story set in New
York. Another highly anticipated title is the Japanese thriller,
Alice in
Borderland
, returning with its third season. This installment promises more
death games and high-stakes decisions for its characters.

A new historical drama from the creator of Peaky Blinders
is also on the list. Titled
House of Guinness, it follows four siblings
who must wrestle with inheriting one of the world’s largest breweries in the
19th century. Viewers can also enjoy the martial arts fantasy film
Karate
Kid: Legends
, featuring Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio. This film continues
the popular franchise with a new protagonist, a kung fu prodigy who faces a
fierce karate champion.
