System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, developed and published by Nightdive Studios, launched for Windows PC on June 26, 2025, with forthcoming releases for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One/Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Rebuilt in Nightdive’s proprietary KEX Engine, the remaster features fully updated visuals—including high-definition character and weapon models, redone cutscenes, and support for up to 4K at 144 FPS on PC (120 FPS on consoles)—alongside cross-play co-op multiplayer, mod support, and a suite of quality-of-life enhancements such as adjustable field of view and ultra-widescreen compatibility.

Set 42 years after the original, the game casts players as a cybernetically enhanced soldier who awakens from cryo-sleep aboard the derelict starship Von Braun to face the rogue AI SHODAN and her mutant creations. The remaster retains the immersive sim gameplay of the 1999 classic—combining FPS action, RPG-style skill progression and paranormal psionics—while adding modernized interfaces, restored audio logs and cinematic polish to welcome both new audiences and longtime fans at a price of USD 29.99 on PC.
