Furness filed for divorce more than a year after she and Jackman announced their split. “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she said in a statement to the Daily Mail shortly after.

She continued, “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us. This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience.”

Furness went on to note that “we are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves … I remain grateful.”

An insider told Us that Jackman and his mutual friends with Furness were surprised by her “betrayal” statement, sharing, “She wasn’t very direct with who she was speaking about but was alluding to Hugh, and that added emotional weight to it.”

Though the source said Jackman was “heartbroken” by Furness’ words, he would not be responding to the statement. “Hugh loves and respects Deborra-Lee. He will always love her and won’t allow it to get ugly,” they explained. “[He is] hopeful in time they will heal and … be friends and resolve any misunderstandings.”
