A five-year-old boy remains in a critical condition after he was allegedly stabbed.
The child was presented at Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania just before midnight on Tuesday with stab wounds.
He was later airlifted to Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, where he has undergone multiple surgeries.
A 33-year-old Ravenswood woman, whom police allege is known to the boy, also presented to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
She was later charged with attempted murder and remains in hospital under police guard.
The boy’s father and other family members have flown to Melbourne to be by his hospital bedside, where they will remain ‘for the foreseeable future’.
‘(He) is currently under sedation to allow his body to rest, and see the full extent of his injuries in the next coming days,’ his aunt wrote on a fundraiser.
‘He is stable but critical.

‘Our family is currently facing an unimaginable situation.
‘Right now, the focus is simply on supporting him so he is not alone, and has the support he needs so he can continue showing up and being present for his little fighter.’
More than $41,000 has been raised within two days.
Investigations are ongoing.
