A deeply disturbing 911 dispatch call has revealed the horror inside an Olive Garden kitchen where a worker died after plunging headfirst into a vat of boiling oil.
The act was so shocking that even the emergency dispatcher appeared to struggle to describe what had happened.
‘A male victim went head-first into the … fryers,’ a dispatcher said over Lycoming County Fire and EMS radio transmissions on January 30, his voice briefly faltering as he relayed the scene unfolding inside the Williamsport, Pennsylvania restaurant.
Moments later, another dispatcher could be heard grappling for words as panic erupted at the popular chain restaurant.
‘I don’t have a lot of details … lot of people screaming, some kind of a burn victim,’ the dispatcher said, according to audio reviewed by the Daily Mail.
The man, whose identity has not been publicly released, had been working inside the kitchen during service when he suddenly stripped off his clothing and thrust himself into one of the restaurant’s industrial deep fryers, authorities said.
The act unfolded in front of horrified coworkers and at least one customer, who reportedly rushed forward in a desperate attempt to stop him but were unable.
Emergency responders were dispatched shortly after 4pm, racing to the scene as stunned employees struggled to comprehend what they had just witnessed.

The victim was pulled from the fryer and rushed to a nearby hospital suffering catastrophic burns. Despite emergency medical treatment, he later died from his injuries.
In the frantic aftermath, responders also called for additional medical assistance after a female worker suffered minor burns while trying to intervene and help the victim, underscoring how close others came to being caught in the devastating incident.
Authorities have described the tragedy as a suicide attempt but have released few additional details.
A spokesman for the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the nature of the incident but declined to provide further information.
‘Out of respect for the individual and their family, we do not release information,’ the spokesman said.
Industrial deep fryers used in commercial kitchens can reach temperatures of 350 to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, capable of causing devastating injuries in seconds.
The restaurant was closed for several days following the incident as authorities conducted their investigation but it has since reopened.
