Nishichayagai, one of Kanazawa’s three teahouse districts, launched a historic AR experience to attract new visitors and engage a new generation. This immersive AR experience has been crafted to entice both newcomers and locals, drawing fresh eyes to overlooked areas and transforming familiar spaces with layered stories and unexpected digital discoveries. With the purchase of a ticket to the artful exhibition, visitors can scan a QR code with their mobile device. Once they come upon a designated spot, augmented reality makes the real-world setting more imaginative, as if they’ve stepped into a large picture book.
This experience in Japan is set to go on until the fall, and with it, visitors will become familiar with unique figures like Homura, the guardian deity of Nishichaya, as well as spirits like Touka and Sumika.
