Hailee Steinfeld Reveals ‘Most Profound’ Part of Preparing to Give Birth

Pregnant Hailee Steinfeld is ready to meet her little one.

“This week, I was sitting on the couch in my family room, and the reality that our little family is about to grow really started to settle in,” Steinfeld, 29, wrote via her “Beau Society” newsletter on Friday, February 20. “Of course, I have all the to-do lists (which you know I love), and I’ve been busy with research and the general life reorganization that happens when you’re about to have a baby.”

She continued, “The most profound and grounding part of getting ready for this baby has been the introspective side of it [and] the quiet conversations I’m having with myself almost every day. Sometimes I find myself asking big, lofty questions (‘What am I going to be like as a mom?’) or having vivid daydreams of what our life is about to look like when the three of us are cuddled up in the nursery together.”

Steinfeld announced in December 2025 that she is expecting her first baby with her husband, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Pregnant Hailee Steinfeld is giving fans a peek at her growing baby bump as well as showing off a baby onesie for the little one on the way. Posting via her Beau Society Substack newsletter on Friday, January 2, the singer, 29, shared a subtle update on her pregnancy journey as she and husband Josh […]

“While tuning in, I’ve experienced this surreal, full-body awareness that our world is about to expand in beautiful ways,” Steinfeld, who has not publicly shared the sex of her forthcoming bundle of joy, mused on Friday. “We’re getting ready to meet someone we already love so much. I’ve racked my brain for words to describe that feeling, and I don’t have them yet. Maybe that’s the point. For now, I’m blessed to be settling into the feeling.”

Steinfeld has also been knee-deep in “nesting” for her baby’s arrival and getting the nursery organized and decorated.

“The nesting phase is real, and I’m in the middle of it. Unsurprisingly, putting together a nursery has been a joy for me,” she wrote. “I’ve gone back and forth on tiny details more than I care to admit … but seeing it all slowly come together has made our new life feel more tangible. Emphasis on ‘slowly’ coming together — it’s all still very much a work in progress.”

The Sinners actress started putting together her baby’s nursery thanks to the helpful advice of “every mom friend” she already has.

“There are a few essentials almost every mom friend has urged me to have ready,” she said, listing double zipper sleepers, crib sheets, burp cloths, a sound machine, “a really good” rocking chair and a postpartum basket for the new mom as vital postpartum baby items she has already ordered.

Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen kept their romance quiet to start in May 2023 before announcing their engagement less than two years later. Allen was linked to Steinfeld just weeks after eagle-eyed fans noticed in April 2023 that his longtime girlfriend Brittany Williams unfollowed him on social media. Williams proceeded to wipe her Instagram clean of […]

“Generally, I have a less-is-more approach to shopping for baby clothes,” Steinfeld added. “I don’t want to be overwhelmed by stuff. However, I’ve done a little bit. There’s something surreal about folding tiny clothes, organizing drawers, placing little socks in a basket, and thinking, our baby will actually wear this.”

Allen, 29, also can’t wait to meet the couple’s first baby.

“I’ve got siblings that have kids, I’ve got a lot of friends that have kids and I don’t know if you can plan too far in advance,” Allen quipped of balancing parenthood with football in a January press conference. “I’m very much looking forward to that with my wife. Becoming a dad [is] something that I will take with great pride.”

He continued, “We’re going to have to figure things out on the go, just like anything else. This is the most important thing I’ll be in my life — being a dad.”
