Grace Tame is ERASED from vital lessons by one of Australia’s most prestigious schools after her sickening ‘Globalise the Intifada’ outburst

One of Australia’s most prestigious schools is dumping Grace Tame from its anti-rape campaign after she led a crowd to chant ‘Globalise the Intifada’ at a Sydney rally.

Tame has featured heavily in the Consent And Healthy Relationships classes for girls in Years 9 and 10 at Sydney’s elite Conservatorium High School for gifted musicians.

She appeared in presentations with anti-sexual violence against women activists, Saxon Mullins and Chanel Contos, to teach young women about safety and the consent laws adopted in NSW in 2022.

But the Daily Mail can reveal her role in the lessons is being removed after her actions sparked concerns she may have been ‘promoting violence against a race of people’.

It comes after Tame attended the February 9 rally at Sydney’s Town Hall to protest against the four-day state visit by Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The head of state had been invited by Governor-General Sam Mostyn in the wake of the Bondi Beach massacre to meet families of the victims and see the memorial.

The protest turned violent when activists defied a court order banning their march, risking arrest under special police powers introduced by the NSW Government for Herzog’s visit.

Tame led a chant from a microphone on the steps of Sydney Town Hall of  ‘From Gadigal to Gaza, globalise the Intifada’, which was echoed by thousands below, waving Palestinian flags.

Gadigal is the Aboriginal name for Sydney and the word ‘intifada’ refers to armed uprisings by Palestinians against Israel.

Many Jewish people in Israel and Australia regard the chant ‘globalise the intifada’ as menacing and a call to violence against them.

NSW has been considering following the Queensland Government and banning the Intifada chant as hate speech when used to cause menace, harassment or offence.

Since her leading role in the anti-Herzog rally, several petitions have been launched to strip Tame of her 2021 Australian of the Year title, with one attracting more than 26,000 signatures.

Tame defended herself on Instagram by insisting she was being victimised in her ‘pursuit of justice’ and branded Herzog as an alleged genocidist and war criminal.

‘This is not the first time I’ve been made a villain for speaking out,’ she said.

‘I refuse to be silent.’

Tame rose to prominence by campaigning for law reforms for sexual assault survivors in Tasmania and has appeared alongside Brittany Higgins.

New sexual consent laws were introduced after Saxon Mullins appeared on Four Corners as the subject of a high profile sexual assault case.

The new laws have been included in the school curriculum after Chanel Contos led her #TeachUsConsent campaign in 2021.

Australian schools are now required to educate students on the new laws along with subjects like respectful relationships, active consent, coercion, gender stereotypes, and power imbalances.

But Tame will now be erased from the images used by the Conservatorium High School, known colloquially as ‘Con High’

Its iconic castle-like building is perched on the edge of the Royal Botanic Gardens, a stone’s throw from Sydney Opera House and the state’s only specialist music school.

The highly prestigious school is a state-run public school, but students are carefully selected with a focus on musical talent.

Among the notable alumni are violinist and artistic director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra Richard Tognetti, flautist Jane Rutter, and Icehouse front man Iva Davies.

The Conservatorium School selected Saxon Mullins as one of the faces of its mandatory sexual consent law class for her leading role at the Rape and Sexual Assault Research and Advocacy group.

In 2013, Luke Lazarus was accused of raping an unnamed teenage girl behind his father’s nightclub in Kings Cross, and he was eventually acquitted on appeal.

In 2018, Mullins, then 23, outed herself on Four Corners as that girl, which led to the change in the sexual consent laws.

The amended laws mean a person cannot give consent if they are unconscious, asleep, considerably affected by drugs and alcohol, or have a cognitive impairment.

In 2021, Chanel Contos, then 22, sparked controversy when she exposed the alarming level of sexual assault in Sydney private schools.

She encouraged hundreds of private schoolgirls to come forward and reveal sexual assaults by boys from some of Australia’s most prestigious schools.

Her campaign would ensure education about the new consent laws would be added to the Australian curriculum.

She went on to become Chair of The Global Institute for Women’s Leadership’s Youth Advisory Committee.

Both Mullins and Contos will remain in Con High’s Consent And Healthy Relationships class presentations.

The Daily Mail has approached the school for comment.
