- Ellie Bull has quit as a cheerleader with the Cronulla Sharks
The glamorous girlfriend of footy star Sam Stonestreet has decided to ‘step aside’ after seven years as a cheerleader with Cronulla.
Ellie Bull dates Stonestreet – who is in the Sharks’ NRL squad – with the Pilates instructor confirming the development on Instagram.
‘After seven incredible seasons, it’s time for me to step aside,’ Bull’s post began.
‘Cheering for the @cronullasharks fulfilled a dream, and being able to live that dream has been something I’ll never take for granted.
‘Starting out as a member of the 67s crew paved the way for me into cheer to begin with, but I have always been a Sharks fan.
‘From the excitement of game days to the countless rehearsals, laughs, challenges and unforgettable moments on the field, this experience has given me memories and friendships I will carry with me forever.

In her lengthy Instagram post, Ellie Bull (pictured, in Las Vegas) also called for cheerleading to be better supported
‘Over the years I’ve grown so much, both as a performer and as a person, and I’m so grateful for every opportunity and every moment that came with wearing the Sharks colours.
‘Being part of this team and this club has been something I will always be proud of.
‘While it’s bittersweet to close this chapter, I’m excited to move in a different direction and see where the next journey takes me. Once a Shark, always a Shark.’
Bull – who has been dating Stonestreet since June last year – also called for cheerleading to be better supported.
‘Cheer in Australia is not always taken very seriously,’ she said.
‘For some of us, it’s our life. It’s our dream. Just like the players you support. I truly hope that changes and I strongly advocate for cheer in this country.’
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail understands the NRL doesn’t ban players from dating cheerleaders, unlike in the NFL, where relationships are generally forbidden.
Former Miss Universe winner Jennifer Hawkins was famously a cheerleader with the Newcastle Knights as a teenager.
Stonestreet, 23, has been named on the wing as Cronulla prepare to take on Penrith at Carrington Park in Bathurst this weekend.
The flyer impressed in his team’s season opener against the Gold Coast Titans, finishing with three tackle breaks and a try assist in the resounding 50-10 victory at Shark Park.
Stonestreet made his first-grade debut in 2024 and is tipped to be a key figure this year after fellow winger Ronaldo Mulitalo ruptured his ACL while representing New Zealand against Samoa in the Pacific Championships last October.
Mulitalo is expected to be sidelined for the majority of the NRL season.
