FedEx Driver Accused of Stealing $62,000 in Undelivered Packages

A FedEx driver in Louisiana is accused of stealing $62,000 worth of merchandise from undelivered packages.

On Feb. 13, Property Theft Detectives with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office were notified of a theft reported on Feb. 11 involving a FedEx package that was never delivered," per a Facebook post from the sheriff's office.

An investigation led detectives to identify the suspect as 27-year-old Tyran Jackson, a FedEx delivery driver.

They determined that the stolen package was being stored inside a storage unit located on the 10500 block of Perkins Road in Baton Rouge. After obtaining a search warrant for the unit, investigators located and recovered approximately $62,000 worth of stolen FedEx merchandise inside, the sheriff's office said.

A photo shared in the Facebook post shows piles of boxes filling the storage unit.

The sheriff's office said that after completing their search and inventory of the stolen items, they located Jackson and took him into custody.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

The investigation into the stolen merchandise remains ongoing.

FedEx did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on the incident.
