An 85-year-old man is feared to have been accidentally kidnapped from his home.

NSW Police have shared a photo of the man they believe was taken from his home in North Ryde, about 15km north-west of Sydney’s CBD, just after 5am on Friday. 

‘Police consider that the man who was reportedly kidnapped may not have been the intended target and are appealing for his safe return,’ police said in a statement.

‘Detectives confirm they remain in ongoing communication with the man’s family as inquiries continue.’

Police said the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad is investigating the case.
