England’s new World Cup kit is the most expensive EVER as price soars at nearly double the rate of inflation – leaving fans facing record costs

Fans will be forced to splash out more than ever before if they want to buy England’s kit ahead of the World Cup, as the latest Three Lions replica shirt is the most expensive in history.

After a price hike approximately double the rate of inflation, an adult ‘match’ shirt for this summer’s World Cup is being sold at a steep £134.99, an eight per cent increase on the equivalent Three Lions kit released ahead of Euro 2024 which was £124.99.

Even young fans will have to fork out three-figure sums to wear the ‘match’ strip, with junior shirts priced at a huge £114.99.

Meanwhile, the adult ‘stadium’ shirt has been increased by six per cent in price to £89.99, with juniors counterpart costing £69.99.

‘Match’ shirt mostly closely resemble the jerseys worn by England’s players during the tournament, while the ‘stadium’ alternative is designed for supporters to wear more casually in the stands.

Supporters who opt to have a name and number printed on the back will have to pay up to an additional £60 as well.

They are the most expensive England kits ever, after a price hike double the rate of inflation

England’s ‘match’ shirt sold for £114.95 ahead of the last World Cup in 2022, while a ‘stadium’ strip cost £74.95.

Manufactured by Nike as part of the sports brand’s reported £400million deal with the FA, the shirt no longer features the multi-coloured interpretation of the St George’s Cross that sparked outrage and controversy when it was released in 2024.

The cross has instead been replaced by the phrase ‘happy and glorious’ inside the collar, paying tribute to England’s national anthem God Save the King.

Nike has described the kit as a ‘modern all-white design that honours England’s heritage’, while the away strip returns to red after being purple since 2024.

Meanwhile, a statement on England’s official website announcing the release of the new shirts on Monday read: ‘In anticipation of the FIFA 2026 World Cup, England have released an atmospheric video to unveil the designs for the new Three Lions’ home and away kit.

‘The visuals are brought to life by one of the most influential figures in British music this century, Mike Skinner. Both kits will be available from Monday 23 March via EnglandStore.com and Nike websites.

‘The biggest stage in football is set to be lit up with fresh designs on both kits, with a distinct collar and fabric print that pops on the white home design and a central badge on the red kit.’

England captain Harry Kane, Jordan Pickford, Jude Bellingham, Elliot Anderson and Marcus Rashford starred in the promotion video, having all made Thomas Tuchel’s latest 35-man squad for the March international break.

The Three Lions first take on Uruguay this Friday before facing Japan next Tuesday, with both games being friendlies.

The kit is set to be worn by the Three Lions for the first time on Friday.
