Samsung fans, the day you’ve all been eagerly waiting for has finally arrived. The rollout of One UI 7 has now begun in the US.

After months of delays, Samsung started rolling out its Android 15-based One UI 7 update to users in the US starting with the Galaxy S24 series, while other eligible devices will receive One UI 7 later this month and into May. Although the global release of One UI 7 started on April 7 in South Korea, the US and European launches were not set to begin until April 10. The Galaxy S25 series, which launched in February, already includes One UI 7 pre-installed out of the box.

One UI 7 offers numerous software enhancements, including a revamped notification center, the Now Bar, and fresh app icons. Overall, it provides a smoother and more fluid experience than One UI 6. Samsung appears to have drawn some inspiration from Apple’s iOS 18 for One UI 7, and the results are impressive. It’s easily one of Samsung’s best software updates ever.

One UI 7 is now rolling out for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6, with older eligible Samsung devices expected to receive the update in the coming days and weeks in the US. Here’s everything you need to know about downloading it, when to expect it on your device, and what the future holds for One UI 7.

If you have a Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, or Galaxy Z Flip 6, you should see the update now available for download in your phone’s Settings app under Software update. If you don’t see the update available yet, it’s likely because Samsung is doing a “phased rollout,” which means not every device will get to install it at the same time. You may need to be patient while you wait for the update to become available on your phone. Once it’s available, simply tap the Download and Install button for One UI 7.

Samsung South Korea provided the following release timeline for One UI 7, and typically, the US release follows soon after South Korea (via Android Authority). While One UI 7 is not yet available for download on the Galaxy S23 series in the US, it is expected to become available later this month. The Galaxy S22 and S21 series are anticipated to receive the update in May. Here’s when all eligible devices can expect to receive the update:

What’s next from Samsung?

One UI 8 might be the answer

S25 Edge at MWC.

With the release of One UI 7 finally upon us, you may be wondering what to expect next from Samsung and when the next One UI update might arrive. The answer is sooner than you think.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge in May or June, following a delay from its original April launch. Then, this summer, the South Korean tech giant is anticipated to release the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. However, leaks suggest that these devices will ship with One UI 8 instead of One UI 7.

That’s right; after waiting six months for One UI 7 following the release of Android 15 in October 2024, One UI 8 might debut just a few months later, which would be quite a remarkable turn of events. Android 16 is expected to launch in June this year, earlier than its usual fall release, making it entirely plausible for an Android 16-based One UI 8 to be released in July or August, especially since leaks indicate Samsung has already begun internal testing of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 series.

So, it’s quite possible that the next major update you install on your Samsung device won’t be another version of One UI 7, but will be a direct upgrade to One UI 8. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are rumored to launch in July, which aligns with the release timeline Samsung followed for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 last year.
