Emergency services were called to the airport shortly before 7.30am on Friday following reports that multiple passengers and crew had been hurt.
It’s understood the Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles was nearing Sydney when it encountered intense turbulence, throwing attendants into the air and jolting several passengers from their seats.
NSW Ambulance crews and airport emergency personnel were on standby at the tarmac and assessed a number of patients on arrival.
Eight people, including flight attendants and elderly passengers, were treated for a range of injuries, with three people rushed to hospital.
