An earthquake shook Los Angeles just hours after Hollywood A-listers left the Oscars ceremony.

The 3.9-magnitude tremor was reported at 10.13pm, centered in North Hollywood, according to NBC Los Angeles. 

Shaking was reported in the San Fernando Valley, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Glendale, Pasadena and other parts of Los Angeles. 

It came just hours after celebrities poured out of the Dolby Theater in Hollywood following the 97th Academy Awards. 

Many on X joked that the tremor was retribution for the awards show.

‘Just felt an earthquake… even the Earth’s mad as hell over the Oscars OMFG,’ one user wrote.

‘Earthquake is God punishing Los Angeles for the nickel boys/sing sing shut out,’ screenwriter Demi Adejuyigbe added, while another suggested it was trying to avenge Demi Moore and The Substance for failing to win in their categories.

‘The shake you just felt was them STILL trying to play Adrian Brody off,’ a fourth netizen joked after the actor continued his speech even after the music played.

It came just hours after celebrities poured out of the Dolby Theater in Hollywood for the 97th Academy Awards

The big winner of the night was indie film Anora, which took home five awards including Best Picture, Best Leading Actress and Best Director. 

The film follows the wild story of a sex worker, played by Mikey Madison, who marries the son of a Russian oligarch, whose family disapproves of the union.

Madison took home Best Actress in one of the biggest upsets of the evening, beating out Demi Moore, who had dominated the category throughout much of awards season for her shocking career turn in horror film The Substance.

Similarly, Timothee Chalamet’s efforts in A Complete Unknown were overlooked in favor of Adrien Brody’s performance in The Brutalist, sparking an onslaught of memes that he fell victim to the ‘Kardashian curse’ for bringing girlfriend Kylie Jenner as his date.
