Disturbing torture footage emerges of abducted grandfather gagged and bloodied as cops insist the kidnappers have the WRONG man

Sickening footage of an innocent grandfather being tortured is circulating through Sydney’s underworld as cops warn his abductors they have the wrong man.

The vile footage, seen by Daily Mail, depicts Chris Baghsarian, 85, after he was kidnapped while alone at his North Ryde home on Friday morning.

Police are desperately trying to secure Mr Baghsarian’s release after he was bundled into a dark‑coloured SUV in a suspected case of mistaken identity.

The kidnappers have circulated video of Mr Baghsarian bloodied and tied up, gagged and lying on a carpeted floor covered in blood.

A kidnapper, wearing hi-vis and blue surgical gloves, was seen tormenting the helpless man.

‘Are you alright mate, are you alright mate?’ the kidnapper repeatedly asked.

The kidnapper shook Mr Baghsarian’s face, which is covered with an item of clothing.

The grandfather groaned and lifted his tied-up hands, but the kidnapper aggressively swatted them away.

‘Don’t be silly, don’t be silly,’ the kidnapper repeatedly barked.

Mr Baghsarian was heard groaning in agony before the video abruptly ended.

Police suspect the kidnappers intended to abduct a relative of an underworld figure, but mistakenly took Mr Baghsarian.

Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Marks said there are grave concerns for the grandfather, who needs daily medication.

‘They took Mr Baghsarian whilst he was at home, in his bedroom of his family home, and they took him and bundled him into a car and took him away to a location that we do not know,’ he said.

‘Police consider that Mr Baghsarian was not the intended target … You have the wrong person.’

The chilling footage was sent to a Sydney underworld figure believed to be overseas.

‘If there’s a member of the kidnapping crew that has any common decency, to tell us where he is, you tell us where he is, we’ll do the rest,’ Det Supt Marks said.

It’s understood three people are involved in the kidnapping, with Det Supt Marks confirming a burnt-out vehicle matching the SUV’s description has been located.

The kidnapping has unsettled underworld figures, who say a line has been crossed, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Police Minister Yasmin Catley said the perpetrators would be caught and prosecuted.

‘Police have a proven track record of locking up those responsible for these reprehensible crimes and the bad actors who manipulate them to do their dirty work,’ Ms Catley said.

‘We do not want to see this violence on our streets.’
