‘Distressed’ consumer feeling larger discretionary pinch

Recent signs of weakness in consumer spending have further raised concerns about the U.S. entering a recession it avoided post-Covid.

And U.S. consumers are seeing the percentage of their incomes available for discretionary purposes falling again after gains seen in lockdown.
