Disney Banned Performing ‘Hannah Montana’ Songs

Miley Cyrus just dropped some serious tea about her Disney Channel days, and it’s got her fans stunned! In a brand-new interview, the pop star got real about why she was banned from performing any of her iconic ‘Hannah Montana’ songs after leaving the network. Miley admitted she was in a whole new vibe musically anyway. But the fact that Disney said, “Nah, sis, you can’t sing your songs” left her feeling some type of way. Here’s what happened…

Miley Explains The Moment Disney Channel Told Her “Aht, Aht”

In a recent chat on Spotify’s ‘The Ringer‘ podcast, the 32-year-old spilled on why you never caught her performing her ‘Hannah Montana’ hits after Disney. Not even an a cappella of ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ or ‘The Best of Both Worlds.’

Y’all, fans would’ve been living for a nostalgic throwback moment. But Disney was not having it. When Miley closed the Hannah Montana chapter after its fourth season in 2011, the network hit her with some serious shade.

“After I left Disney, I wasn’t allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music,” she revealed, per Deadline. Now, Miley admitted she wasn’t exactly itching to perform those PG-friendly songs. After all, she was busy transitioning to her most controversial era with ‘Bangerz’ in 2013. Not quite the right vibe.

But still, knowing she couldn’t perform them, even for a cute lil’ mash-up, had her in her feelings.

“It was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn’t allowed to sing them,” she said.

Disney Channel Ended Up Giving Her The Approval… 13 Years Later

Fast forward to 2024, and it appears that Disney has finally gotten its act together! Miley shared that after being honored as a Disney Legend at the Ultimate Disney Fan event last year, the network had a change of heart.

“After being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool,” she dished.

And Roomies, let’s keep it all the way real, those ‘Hannah Montana’ albums were no joke!

The self-titled debut from 2006 went triple platinum. Additionally, ‘Hannah Montana 2’ in 2007 went platinum four times! Fans have been ready to hear those hits live, and now Miley’s got the green light to sprinkle some Disney magic into her setlists. We’re ready for it, Miley!
