Canadian design firm Architecture Building Culture has created the Piano House on top of a notably rocky outcrop located in West Vancouver. The home is defined by its curved facade and slatted screens, which are integrated to ensure privacy for the home.
The Piano House is named after the client’s white baby grand, which is a prideful focus of the home — found in the living room. The property rests on a teardrop-shaped street overlooking the Burrard Inlet. The home was commissioned to replace an existing home that was damaged by fire. “The architecture had to blend these contradictions into something distinct, self-assured and generous both for the occupants and the street,” noted the studio’s founder, Mark Ritchie.
