Cultural Japa Pavilions : japa valley

The Japa Valley Tokyo project reimagines urban culture as a one-hectare sake-soaked retreat in Yurakucho Park. It was created by Not A Hotel under the creative direction of Pharrell Williams and NIGO. This temporary cultural complex will open in 2027, blending art, food, retail, and design into a Japanese-inflected, Napa-style experience.

The site features timber-clad pavilions, glass-wrapped pop-ups, verdant rooftops, and communal gathering areas that frame craftsmanship and conversation. At its heart sits a reclining COMPANION sculpture by KAWS, inviting reflection amid dynamic programming that runs across seasons. Rather than offering overnight stays, the installation encourages wandering, tasting, browsing, and collaboration. Japa Valley Tokyo redefines public engagement by weaving sake heritage, contemporary art, and streetwear culture into a city-centered creative playground.
