Clear Drop is officially introducing the Soft Plastic Compactor (SPC) solution as a new way for consumers to tackle soft plastic waste directly from home. The device, harnessing the power of plastic-softening technologies, compresses plastics into blocks for easy storage, transport, and recycling. The unit is rigorously tested to ensure it can be used within households. From there, the company ensures the blocks are delivered to recycling facilities directly.

“The current U.S. recycling system isn’t built to handle soft, flexible plastics,” says David Nix, Clear Drop recycling expert and professor at the University of Pittsburgh. “They often jam sorting machines and slow down processing. Clear Drop’s SPC turns this tricky waste into something easier for recycling facilities to manage. It also reduces the amount of ‘air’ being shipped, which means fewer trips and lower emissions.”
