Environmental Sustainability in K-12 School cafeterias is the focus of a new collaboration between Eco-Products® and DNO Produce®, which has resulted in an innovative compostable packaging solution tailored for school nutrition programs. The new design features a 4-ounce molded fiber cup made from renewable resources, paired with a plant-based lidding film that seals in fresh-cut fruits or vegetables — addressing the growing need for pre-portioned, ready-to-eat produce in school settings.

The molded fiber cup is BPI-certified compostable, and the plant-based film meets ASTM standards for compostability. Developed to reduce labor demands while supporting waste diversion, the solution is already being rolled out across DNO’s footprint in 17 states. Eco-Products, a Novolex brand and certified B Corp, and DNO aim to shift cafeteria systems toward a more circular, sustainable model of food packaging.
