Clean the Sky – Recycled Polyester Partnerships

Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

Syre, the textile-to-textile recycling company co-founded by H&M Group and investment firm Vargas, has announced strategic partnerships with major U.S. retailers Gap Inc. and Target to supply recycled polyester.

As demand intensifies for sustainable materials and more responsible production practices, Syre aims to produce over 3 million tonnes of recycled polyester annually by 2032. By transforming discarded garments into high-quality polyester through its advanced textile recycling technology, Syre aims to reduce the industry’s reliance on virgin fossil-based fibers.

In line with these goals, Gap plans to incorporate up to 10,000 tonnes of Syre’s recycled polyester chips into its product lines each year. Target will also integrate the recycled material into select apparel offerings, while Syre works on opening doors to its first U.S.-based recycling facility with an annual production capacity of 10,000 tonnes, expected to be operational by 2026.
