Nexergy Holdings is advancing its circular plastics strategy by launching plastic-to-fuel incubators at the Materials Processing Institute (MPI) in Teesside. These incubators aim to refine Nexergy’s thermo-mechanical process that transforms plastic waste into light crude oil, offering a sustainable alternative to petroleum. By partnering with MPI, Nexergy gains access to cutting-edge facilities and technical expertise that will help move its technology from concept to commercial scale.
This incubator marks the first of 16 planned production sites across the UK, forming the backbone of Nexergy’s rollout strategy. The controlled environment at MPI will support technology refinement, industrial testing, and de-risking as Nexergy prepares to launch its first full-scale facility. The initiative aligns with regional green growth priorities and contributes to broader national decarbonization goals.
Beyond innovation, Nexergy’s partnership with MPI emphasizes community and economic impact. The company plans to engage local stakeholders, industry collaborators, and policymakers to ensure the incubators support sustainable development and bolster the UK’s environmental resilience.
