Clean the Sky – Nuclear Reactor Energy Agreements

Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

Google and Kairos Power signed a Master Plant Development Agreement to deploy multiple small modular reactors (SMRs) across the United States under Google’s first corporate purchase agreement for advanced nuclear energy. The initial phase aims to bring Kairos Power’s first SMR online by 2030, with subsequent reactors added through 2035. In total, the partnership targets up to 500 MW of new, 24/7 carbon-free power delivered to U.S. electricity grids, with energy, ancillary services, and environmental attributes supplied to Google under long-term power purchase agreements.

This agreement complements Google’s existing portfolio of renewable energy sources by providing firm, dispatchable electricity to support the company’s global data centers and offices. By advancing next-generation nuclear technology alongside solar and wind, Google seeks to meet its 24/7 carbon-free energy and net-zero objectives while helping utilities integrate reliable baseload power. The collaboration also reflects a broader effort to accelerate commercialization of advanced clean energy solutions and drive decarbonization of the electricity sector.
