Alstom and Outokumpu have partnered to advance the development of low-emission metro cars through the use of sustainable stainless steel. As part of this collaboration, Outokumpu will supply its ‘Circle Green®’ stainless steel, which features up to “93% lower carbon emissions than the industry average, for use in the outer shell of Alstom’s Metropolis metro vehicles.”
This initiative supports Alstom’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from procured goods and services by 30% by 2030. By incorporating low-carbon materials into vehicle manufacturing, the partnership contributes to more sustainable public transportation solutions.
As global urbanization accelerates, cities face increasing demand for mobility solutions that are both efficient and environmentally responsible. The Alstom and Outokumpu partnership reflects a proactive approach to meeting this demand through innovative, climate-conscious design and sourcing.
