The 2025 Trek Powerfly+ 8 Gen 5 is built around an Alpha Platinum aluminium hardtail frame featuring the Removable Integrated Battery (RIB 2.0) system and Boost148 hub spacing with guided internal routing. It is powered by a Bosch Performance Line CX mid-drive motor delivering 85 Nm of torque and capped at 25 km/h (20 mph), coupled with an 800 Wh Bosch PowerTube Smart System battery. The frame geometry accommodates four sizes (S, M, L, XL), with small frames running 27.5-inch wheels and medium through extra-large frames fitted with 29-inch wheels and 120 mm fork travel.

Suspension duties on the Powerfly+ 8 Gen 5 are handled by a Fox AWL Rail fork—100 mm of travel on the small frame and 120 mm on sizes M–XL—mounted to a tapered headtube and 15 mm thru-axle. The drivetrain comprises a 1×12 Shimano SLX M7100 shifter and chain paired with an XT M8100 rear derailleur, while stopping power comes from Shimano 4-piston M6100 levers and M6120 calipers. Component highlights include Bontrager Line Comp 30 tubeless-ready wheels, Bontrager Gunnison Pro XR 2.60″ tires, a Bontrager Comp BlendeR-compatible handlebar, and a Bontrager Line dropper post (100 mm travel on S; 170 mm on M–XL).
