Envision Energy has completed the world’s first green marine ammonia bunkering operation, marking a major step toward cleaner shipping fuels. This took place at “COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry’s terminal in Dalian, where China Shipping & Sinopec Suppliers Co., Limited fueled a 5,500-horsepower port vessel with green ammonia for the first time.”
The ammonia fuel came from Envision Energy’s facility in Chifeng, home to the world’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia plant. This success shows that the full process—from making green ammonia to delivering it, fueling ships, and powering marine vessels—can now work smoothly in real-world conditions.
This achievement is important because it shows how green ammonia can help replace fossil fuels in the shipping industry, which is a key part of reducing carbon emissions worldwide. By enabling this operation, Envision Energy is helping shape the future of sustainable marine transportation and supporting global goals for cleaner energy.
