Nespresso Canada has expanded its aluminum coffee capsule recycling program across Quebec, making it the second Canadian province to implement the company’s green bag recycling system province-wide. This initiative, developed in partnership with Éco Entreprises Québec, allows residents to conveniently dispose of used capsules by placing them in specially provided green bags within their regular household recycling bins. The coffee capsule recycling program ensures complete recycling of aluminum capsules while repurposing coffee grounds through Quebec’s biomethanization process. This approach creates a closed-loop system that aligns with the province’s extended producer responsibility framework implemented in 2025.

The program eliminates previous barriers to capsule recycling by integrating it into existing municipal waste collection systems, rather than requiring separate drop-off points or mail-back systems. The free distribution of green bags through online orders, retail locations, and the Nespresso Club removes cost barriers to participation.
