DENSO Corporation, Toray Industries, Nomura Research Institute, Honda Motor Co., MATEC, and REVER Corporation have come together to form the BlueRebirth Council, a collaborative initiative aimed at transforming automotive recycling into a fully circular, sustainable system. The Council’s goal is to establish an integrated value chain that enables true Car-to-Car recycling. This involves recovering materials from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) and reusing them in the production of new vehicles.
Central to the effort is the use of automated precision dismantling, an advanced process powered by AI and sensors that allows robots to disassemble vehicles efficiently, even those with deformed components.
By 2035, the Council aims to evolve the traditional recycling model into a recycled materials manufacturing industry, creating a resource-circulating ecosystem that reduces carbon emissions and raw material dependency.
